PDT Wins Prestigious Good Design Awards

PRESS RELEASE: Product Development Technologies, Inc. (PDT) announces today that they’ve won a 2010 GOOD DESIGN Award in the industrial category for their work on the Invitrogen MAGic Immunoprecipitation Sample Processor. The product has been recognized as one of the world’s most innovative and cutting-edge product designs produced in 2010.

The Invitrogen MAGic Sample Processor is the first of its kind in the industry. The processor is capable of running anywhere between 1-12 DNA protocols at once. Previously, all other processors have only been able to run one protocol at a time. Therefore, using the Invitrogen MAGic Sample Processor can reduce processing time by an entire day. Additionally, a key feature of the Invitrogen MAGic Sample Processor is the unique visual communication that guides the interaction between the technician and the machine.

"Invitrogen presented us with the challenge of streamlining the immunoprecipitation process," said Gilberto Cavada, Senior Designer and MAGic Program Manager. "PDT's diverse team and unique skill set allowed us to develop a solution to streamline the process through advanced engineering that solved thermodynamic issues complemented with user centric industrial design methods," Cavada explained.

Now, in its 60th year, GOOD DESIGN is the oldest and the most esteemed Awards Program organized worldwide. GOOD DESIGN bestows international recognition upon the world's most prominent designers and manufacturers for advancing new, visionary, and innovative product concepts, invention and originality, and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered ordinary product and consumer design. Products were awarded based on the latest advances for design and innovation, sustainability, creativity, branding, ecologically responsible design, human factors, materials, technology, graphic arts, packaging, and universal design. All products and graphics will be exhibited at The Chicago Athenaeum in Chicago in June, 2011.
