Necksaviour wins prestigious 2016 Medical Design Excellence Award

Brilliantly Simple Traction Devices Receives Acclaim

Product Development Technologies and Epiphany Innovations Win Medical Design Excellence Award (MDEA) for necksaviour

LAKE ZURICH, IL—June 17, 2016—Product Development Technologies (PDT) and Epiphany Innovations are proud to announce that necksaviour, a portable, easy-to-use traction device that comfortably stretches the neck to relieve neck pain, muscle spasms, stiffness, and tension headaches, received a Silver award at the 18th annual Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition. The necksaviour received this award, the most prestigious in the medical product design space, in the Over-the-Counter and Self-Care Products category.

In order to create a non-mechanized, simple and portable traction solution, the product designers and engineers developed a dual layer technology to enable users to achieve a light or strong stretch. Highly versatile in design, necksaviour has both a short and long neck option to accommodate people with different neck lengths. necksaviour is a CE marked, Grade 1 medical device and is intended to alleviate a variety of symptoms as part of a condition management program that could include therapy, exercise and medical advice.

“It is an honor to receive such a prestigious award from a field of well-designed medical products.” said Greg Nielan, Director of PDT UK. “Medical design has been a point of emphasis where our company thrives, as we continue to help companies construct elegant, efficient products like necksaviour.”

necksaviour has received high accolades, being honored with a Spark award and ADEX award for excellence in design.

About necksaviour

The necksaviour concept was borne from necessity. Wesley Marshall, a practicing physical therapist was seeing an increasing number of neck pain and headache sufferers in clinic. He felt that in addition to providing quality treatment and advice, patients would benefit from a product they could use to gently stretch their necks at home. Unhappy with any of the existing products on the market he decided to create one that was easier to use, more portable, more comfortable and that didn’t apply unwanted pressure via the jaw. The success of necksaviour means a family of associated spinal alignment products will follow shortly.
